Oikocredit supports industry-wide initiatives that promote transparency and facilitate the implementation of tools that monitor the social impact of investments. We integrate these into our own operations and encourage our partners to do the same.

Client protection principles (CPPs)

The Client Protection principles (CPPs) have been created by the Smart Campaign and protect clients from unfair, non-transparent and unethical practice. These ensure institutions do not loan amounts that cannot be repaid or provide products people do not need. The Client Protection Principles cover:

  • Appropriate product design and delivery
  • Prevention of over-indebtedness
  • Transparency
  • Responsible pricing
  • Fair and respectful client treatment
  • Privacy of client data
  • Mechanisms for compliant resolution.

The client protection principles have been integrated into the environmental,social and governance scorecard, which all new partners must endorse.
